Mark Faries, PhD
Chair, Lifestyle Medicine 2014 Planning Committee
The American College of Lifestyle Medicine continues to cultivate and engage the optimal conference experience. In October, healthcare professionals from around the world will gather in San Diego, CA for Lifestyle Medicine 2014, Treat the Cause: Evidence-based Practice. We will celebrate past successes, share in community, and gather the newest timely and relevant, evidence-based perspectives on lifestyle medicine. The excitement and anticipation continues to grow, with conference registrations already setting new records.
First and foremost, we are beyond thrilled to experience our extraordinary lineup of internationally recognized keynote speakers. These experts, who need no introduction, continue to revolutionize the practices and philosophies of lifestyle medicine, and are a must-see for any healthcare professional. To have all of these great speakers sharing one stage illustrates their support of the mission and vision of ACLM. They are the giants on whom shoulders we stand and we are honored to announce their commitment to ACLM 2014.
New in planning development in 2014 was the utilization of a call for proposals for presentation and workshop slots, and we saw an outstanding response. We had nearly 80 proposals submitted from around the world, highlighting the growing interest and productivity in lifestyle medicine. The planning committee continues to diligently review and organize a diverse line-up of expert presenters in evidence-based practice. Stay tuned, as we will be announcing the conference schedule in the upcoming weeks.
To further support our conference theme, ACLM 2014 will also include the first ever addition for research poster submissions. These presentations will highlight the best and most current lifestyle medicine research from around the world. Topics will range from common lifestyle interventions, such as dietary, exercise, stress management, smoking cessation, and other non-drug modalities, alongside pertinent research in preventive medicine, behavioral health, psychology, medical education, and the practice of lifestyle medicine. We will be able to celebrate the hard work and efforts of those dedicated to advancing lifestyle medicine research and practice. If you are interested in submitting your own research, the submission deadline is June 30, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Click here to submit a poster.
