What are the credentials of the curriculum authors?
The authors of the multiple modules are clinical subject matter experts
in their fields, including preventive and lifestyle medicine. They have
achieved professional clinical degrees and have substantially
contributed to the research and advancement of the lifestyle medicine
profession.
What does it mean that the curriculum is evidence based?
The curriculum was designed based on a collection of the national
guidelines for each content area. For example, the weight management
recommendations reflect the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and
National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute recommendations for obesity.
In addition, the recommendations of national professional societies are
incorporated, as well as the core peer-reviewed journal articles that
contribute to the evidence base in this field.
Who will benefit from these 32 hours?
This program is designed to provide a sound foundation for lifestyle
medicine principles to doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician
assistants and others involved in providing coordinated patient care. It
is intended for those who are new to the field and would like to learn
the core elements of the competencies as well as the main lifestyle
medicine interventions. The modules cover both basic and more advanced
concepts, providing a thorough background to the underlying elements of
both academic and clinical lifestyle medicine.
What is the format of the content?
The curriculum is entirely online, with the content provided via both
slides and synchronized lectures by respected physician faculty and
other recognized experts.
Is this content accredited for CME?
Yes, each module is accredited, with the full course—10 modules in all—designated for 32 AMA Category 1 Credits.TM
Additionally, members of select medical specialties, including
Preventive Medicine (ACPM) are eligible to receive MOC Part II CME
credit.
Will I receive a certificate of completion?
Yes, all participants who complete the full 32 hours of CME and take the
post-module evaluations will be eligible to receive an online
certificate of completion.
I'm a registered nurse,
registered dietitian, physician assistant, physical therapist,
occupational therapist, respiratory therapist, social worker, speech
therapist or audiologist; may I receive credit for this content?
Yes! As of March 15, 2020, those who
purchase the FULL Lifestyle Medicine Core Competencies Bundle may
receive CE for completion of the program in its entirety. Details below.

The National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) has approved 32 continuing education credits for NBC-HWCs upon successful completion of the Lifestyle Medicine Core Competencies Program.
How recent is the content?
The program was just updated and the new version launched December 2018.
The content reflects the recent work in this field, especially work
from the past 2-3 years. It also describes the foundational studies that
showed the evidence base for the preventive and therapeutic outcomes of
lifestyle medicine. Faculty will be updating the content on a regular
basis, and enrollees have 2-year access to the program.
What organizations are involved in developing this curriculum?
This is a joint effort by two professional non-profit organizations, the
American College of Preventive Medicine and the American College of
Lifestyle Medicine. Core competencies were defined by a blue ribbon
panel of representatives from:

May I purchase complete modules separately, or can I only purchase the entire package?
There are two pricing options. Each of the ten (10) modules are
available for individual purchase or the 32-hour program can be
purchased as a whole. Please note: Continuing Education (CE) for allied
health professionals is ONLY available for the full 32-hour program and
is NOT available for individual modules.
Will additional CME content, or updates to this content, be available soon?
Yes, updates to the training program will be made on an ongoing basis.
How long do I have access to the content?
Course purchasers will have access to the online course for two years.
